Statement of Function
The Indian River County Recreation Department provides, operates and publicizes recreational programs and facilities for the use of County residents and visitors of all age groups. It also provides trained, certified water safety personnel at County beaches and aquatic facilities. Funding for the various programs and administrative costs come solely from the County’s M.S.T.U. fund. This department accounts for the cost of programs directed at residents living in the unincorporated areas of the County.

The Indian River County Recreation Department is looking for Youth Football Officials for the 2015 Fall Season. Officials must have general understanding of High school football rules and have an interest in the game. Must be available to work Mondays thru Thursday, and Saturday mornings. Scheduling is flexible. Game rates vary per game. For more information please call Recreation Dept. at 226-1732.
Volunteers Needed for Special Olympics
The Indian River County Recreation Department is now recruiting volunteers for the Special Olympics Area Games held at the North County Aquatic Center on Saturday, August 22th and Sunday, August 23rd. The volunteer hours will be from 8:15 am – 2 pm both days. We are looking for 60 volunteers who will help with staging athletes, timing and awards. If you are interested in volunteering for the amazing event, please call the North County Aquatic Center at (772) 581-7665. Please also save the date for the State Special Olympics Aquatic Championship on October 3 & 4, 2015.
The Indian River County Recreation Department will be holding registration for cheerleading, flag and tackle football beginning on May 4th. These programs are for children 4-14 years of age, no child can turn 15 before Oct.1st, 2015.
We are currently looking for instructors certified to teach the following:
- Swim Lessons
- Water Aerobics/ Fitness
- Zumba (land and or water)
- Swim coach for a Masters program
